Pit Fire Pottery In The Yard They Said! It Will Be Fun, They Said!
Guess what? Some land next to me looks like this! 1:28 buts it’s wet and rainy where I’m at so it’s still wet but I will try to get some!
Guess what squared? I got two bags one a dirt colour and one a more orange colour. They’re also a bit diff in texture! Can’t wait to actually turn it into clay (but I’m worried abt the grog part ngl)
Part two, I will have to do method one or three but whatever I do, wanna do it soon! I think I’ll just two method three and leave it overnight!
Part three. Ok I found a demented metal bowl thingy in the backyard whichever h leaves me to do one zip log bag once which is ok by me cuz if I make mistake, it's not the end of the journey. I’m leaving it overnight then I’ll check tmrw InshaAllah where I can repeat the process abt four times before I start doing method one.
What if you let the clay dry over night but you don’t like how it looks? Can I just put water on it and it’ll be fine or do I have to make the clay again
Can I use any old sand? Could I use beach sand?
that wording is a bit wonky don't you think? you're not making clay, you've said the clay is already there multiple times
Clay can mean different things, I am using "clay" the soil type to make "clay" the craft material.
I keep a large, shrimp boil type pot beside my wheel with water and clay and add to it over time with wet scraps. I always dump my throwing water in the pot. Once it gets full(about 300 pounds), I mix it with a Harbor Freight mixer. This goes onto plaster about an inch or so thick as needed for each day. I leave it there for one day, not turning it over so I have a wet side and dry side slab. This goes into an extruder with an inch by 2 inch hole in the plate which makes long “bars” of clay. I run it through twice. The clay that comes out is way better than store bought clay in ease of throwing. I think bacteria grows on it which makes it more slippery with less water. It definitely has a bad odor until it dries on plaster. For a studio pottery, it is all you need. I throw pound to pound and a half pots this time of year and large pots in the fall to help fill a wood kiln. I can throw the big pots with store clay and cannot tell much difference, but on paper thin walled one pound cups, it is significantly better.
I was listening to a Tudor England documentary concept where they said they used sour milk during the dealing process because the chemicals you refer to were more abundant in sour milk.
You're a hero
Makes sense. Logically reasoned.
The glaziness of the paint is probably due to a slightly higher amount of manganese dioxide. When there is a lot it can look metallic/shiny.
MY SCHOOL HAS A WHOLE CLAY FIELDS😭🙏 EVERYONE PLAY WITH IT.
Why are we working time away to make money to buy water and dirt? 🥺
Is there enough clay in the clay to make clay? Find out now.
How could I not subscribe?😂
I am new to this kind of pottery making and thought it would take 20 coils to make a pot this big!
Love that you are not going the sponsor way! Thank you for your awesome videos!
thank you
Thanks for the awesome information and demonstration. - Surry Virginia
Wonder if you can pull it from marine beds before they’re dry… got a spot where my dad used to take me clamming…
Maybe a raised bed aircrete (masonry) container to help wick the moisture away?
Very cool. I love playing in the mud.
I wonder if waterglass works as a glaze?
@@brocktechnology it does seal pottery but it is not considered food safe
This is all new to me, it's wonderful. Thank you
Thanks for your videos. I was able to pit fire some clay marbles. And it was clay I was able to find in my own area.

you got a thumbs up and a subscribe for showing love to cowboy kent rollins 👍👍 both of you have really good channels
Hey Andy! Is there any way to fix a small crack on the inside of a small bone dry pot?
This all looks like my yard 😂. Tire tracks that don’t go anywhere, cracks all over the ground, etc lol.
Why doesn't the mainstream acknowledge the fact that Indigenous Americans were _always_ here?

Hello I have two questions for you. I am experimenting with using vinegar to wash and levegate clay. I am trying to remove calcuim by disolving it out. I also wanted to remove other impurities. Is using vinegar in clay a bad idea? I am changing the water until it no longer smells on vinegar. I plan to use Diatomaceous Earth as a temper but I as worried about the calcuim content if any. It's food grade. Have you used DE in your clay above 800C? (I apologise I am not sure where to ask my questions.)
(Just my preference) I would feel more inclined to be 100% authentic if my heritage was native to the area, it would be a great way to get in touch with one’s roots. But I’m watching these videos not to learn how to replicate pottery but to learn some tips on how to utilize the 90% clay dirt on my property, it’s not so good for gardening so I thought well let’s see if I can make some ceramics out of it.
Always learning something new even if I rewatch a video. Thank you for the time you take on both the videos and the pottery because I am always learning something new.😊
The generating station redirected the water from the little Colorado river near Saint John’s. I wonder how that will impact the environment
Agree with your viewers, love how you include historical insights to the culture along with what can be learned on how the pottery was fired. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have any information on the huge gigantic landscape features that exist across Arizona, Utah and Nevada?
I got 10! I really thought i was gonna be far off 😂
ok so the midwest is clay got it
whilst digging up the bones of my dead cat to get its skull cause that's how we are, we found TONS of red dirt, or clay.
The sun ran off those it did not fry in place. A coronal mass ejection.
Congratulations! I know you have struggled to get that reduction black! So glad for you!
How can I determine how old my clay is? It came from 40 ft untouched land.
I would have rather seen how it was actually made

3:12 what is called the “kill hole” bowls - are identification names ,with literal avatar representations, of the burried family members. and the hole in the bowl - signifies that they will never have to eat earth foods again, instead they are connected directly with their families above as well as with the round shaped sun/stars/planets ❤
Okay important question how can you tell the difference between caliche and natural diatomite?
Well there is a textural difference but I think a simple acid test would work. Pour a little vinegar on it, caliche will fizz and diatomite should not.
Thank you so much hopefully this helps others as well in their quest for great clay. I'm going to take a trip tomorrow to test a deposit that I found that I wasn't entirely sure of so I passed on it.
Many centuries of incest and cannibalism drove this slow collapse through collective insanity. As a Doctor, who has studied and researched genetics for many years I have come to this conclusion on what occurs in societies based on collectivism and prejudice and domineering hierarchies.
